James Manders, from Pughs of Shrewsbury, has raced at the world-famous Silverstone track – but without a racing car.
He ran the Silverstone half marathon at the iconic venue, and has raised over £500 for Childline and the NSPCC, to help children who need vital support and advice.
“I ran because one of my friends from university challenged me to, and five of us took part, all raising money for different charities,” said James, who completed the course in 1 hour and 50 minutes.
“It was quite a daunting challenge as it was not only my first ever half marathon, but also the very first formal running event I’ve taken part in.”
James is well-known for his commitment to various causes and has been a volunteer for the Red Cross for the past six years.
