Direct Cremation Service

What is Direct Cremation?

Direct Cremation is a simple and affordable alternative to a traditional funeral service.

It involves the cremation of your loved ones without a formal ceremony or viewing. It is a simple and dignified way of saying goodbye to a loved one and allows families to grieve in their own way and at their own pace.

Direct Cremation can be a suitable option for families who prefer a more private and intimate farewell or who are looking for a more cost-effective alternative.

Direct Cremation has become increasingly popular in recent years, as it allows families to say goodbye to their loved one in a more personal way, and on their own terms.

Frequently Asked Questions

A Direct Cremation involves the funeral director collecting the deceased and, at an arranged date and time, transporting the body to the crematorium to be cremated. This is carried out with no service and no family or other mourners present.

Direct Cremation is often an option for many people where budgets are restricted as it is a lower cost - however it is often a personal choice regardless of finances. People often choose Direct Cremation as their choice in their will as they do not want their money spent on a full service; they do not have many family members; their family and friends live all over the world and they do not want them to have the expense of travelling for their funeral service. On many occasions Direct Cremation is opted for when a memorial or thanksgiving is being planned at a later date, which may even be in a different country.

No - it is an increasingly popular option as families and friends live all over the world and often want to remember the person at a later date when everyone can be together in one place but do not want their loved one's body left at the funeral director’s for weeks or months.

No they cannot but it is still important for loved ones to be able to say goodbye and here at WRR Pugh & Son in Shrewsbury we are proud to offer this service with an option to wave goodbye to a loved one, safe in the knowledge that they are only going a few miles to a local crematorium such as Shrewsbury, Wrexham or Telford. We say this because it is often important to people and many Direct Cremation options often see the deceased transported to crematoriums miles away from their home with the family unaware of where their loved one is going.

You can rest assured that the deceased will receive the same high standard of care and respect that we afford everyone. Once contacted we will make arrangements for the collection and transportation of the deceased into our premises. We will complete all the necessary documentation, make the arrangements with the crematorium, see to the doctors fees and crematorium charges, provide a suitable coffin for cremation, transportation to the crematorium and funeral bearers.

For some a direct cremation is an attractive alternative to a more traditional funeral service for many but also comes with certain restrictions that may not appeal to everyone, which is why it is important to understand exactly what a Direction Cremation involves before making a decision.
