Celebrating life: Unique funeral services and ceremonies in Shrewsbury
06 May 2024

When a loved one dies it’s important to mark their passing in the way they and you want.

Traditional Shropshire funeral services of years past were pretty standard affairs with little room for deviation from what was considered the norm. Those services are still available today of course but at WRR Pugh & Son we believe every funeral can be arranged to reflect the person’s interests and personality - making it more of a unique occasion and celebrating the life of the individual rather than their passing.

Meeting your wishes

Our funeral directors have a wealth of experience in delivering exactly what is required in terms of saying goodbye to a loved one in Shropshire.

It is what we have been doing for many years and remains at the top of our list of priorities. Some requests have been more unusual than others but we understand that everybody is different and wants to put their own individual mark on proceedings, making it unique to them.

Nothing surprises us and we are usually able to deliver whatever is required with the appropriate planning.

A celebration

Celebrating the life of a loved one in Shropshire is extremely popular and can take place at or immediately after the funeral or even later at a time and location to suit you and others taking part. It can be held at a location significant to the deceased where happy memories can be shared.

The eulogy at the funeral service, delivered by a minister, celebrant, or family member, can also be a joyful celebration with the sharing of stories and positive aspects of the life of the deceased.

A unique occasion

There are a number of ways to personalise the funeral service, such as:

  • Setting up an online tribute page, which includes funeral arrangement details, a place to donate to any chosen charity, somewhere to share memories and stories with family and friends, light candles, add music and photos, and leave messages.
  • Live streaming can be arranged at both Emstrey and Telford crematoriums, meaning family and friends unable to attend the funeral can still view the service. It may also be possible to hire live streaming for other venues, which can be discussed during the arrangements.
  • The creation of a personalised slideshow, which would be shown during the service at Emstrey.
  • A personalised coffin, complete with photographs and art.
  • An alternative hearse, such as a lorry, fire engine, milk float, motorcycle and sidecar.
  • Dress code, in keeping with the wishes of the deceased.
