Dealing with a bereavement is difficult and the feeling of loss can be overwhelming. We all have different ways of coping at this time, but it is important to realise that you do not have to go through it alone and there is help available to families in Shrewsbury.
A sudden death can be a major shock, but an anticipated loss can also hit very hard, catching you off-guard, and regardless of how well prepared you think you are, it can still be an overwhelming experience.
Dealing with making all the necessary arrangements following the death of a loved one can engender a feeling that you are coping well, but it is often the case that the busy time between their passing and the funeral can often mask the deep emotion which must make itself known at some point.
Free GriefChat service
Grief is a very personal thing and family and friends can be a great comfort during a bereavement, but if you feel that you would rather talk to someone outside of that circle we offer a free service to people in Shrewsbury that could provide the ideal alternative.
It is called GriefChat and can be accessed by clicking on the blue button on our Coping with Bereavement page. This will connect you with a bereavement counsellor, who has extensive experience in helping people in Shrewsbury come to terms with a death, and are ideally placed to signpost you to any additional support they think you may need.
GriefChat counsellors are sympathetic, understanding, specially trained and DBS certified. The service is available Monday to Friday between 9am and 9pm. It is also possible to send an email as a first point of contact outside of these hours at info@griefchat.co.uk
