W.R.R. Pugh & Son Funeral Directors was one of the many businesses affected by the recent floods in Longden Coleham. The family-run firm, with offices in both Longden Coleham and Whitchurch road has an enviable reputation serving the people of Shrewsbury for 130 years and have witnessed many floods over the years.
Speaking to Pugh's director Ian McDougall he wanted to take this opportunity to praise the immense generosity and support shown to Pugh's by local residents and the general public during the floods. “There were serious consequences for many businesses and residents in the area but we were particularly impressed with the way everyone pulled together in the most difficult of times,” he said.
“We received many offers of help and support, which only goes to acknowledge the tremendous spirit of the Shrewsbury people to rally together in challenging times and show such consideration for others.”
Mr McDougall also wanted to praise the staff at Pugh's “I am immensely proud at how our staff have responded throughout the whole experience and, as always, ensured that their top priority remained the families and their loved ones in our care which never faltered.”
Pugh's currently have two offices in which to look after families, the main office in Longden Coleham and their second office in Whitchurch road. Having two offices allows more choice for families and the advantage of having a service chapel, chapel of rest, showroom and arranging offices in both locations. “Pugh's is committed to delivering the same professional and compassionate service at both locations which will also allow us to serve more people from all over Shrewsbury and beyond.”
